Customer Review: No-nonsense digital nature photography
I have read many books on nature photography, but this one inspired me to go and "shoot, shoot, shoot". Mark Hatasaka skips the jargon laden technical stuff and gets you motivated. His gorgeous photos and "you only live once" view, inspire you to use a pocket camera or a SLR. Just look at the cover shot Mr. Hatasaka took with his Nikon Coolpix 995 digital camera. The proof is in the pictures.
I know other books are considered "nature photography bibles", I read them all. But, if your are an amateur like me who loves to shoot nature photos, read this book. After following, Mark Hatasaka advice, I have taken photos I am very proud of.
Customer Review: Convinced Me to Add a Digital SLR to my Outfit.
This very lucid book convinced me the quality was there in digital photography. The author deals with the economics and megapixel issues. I searched through many other books on the subject. This is the one I selected. Author has another book on the subject, too. Published later. The present book deals with megapixel issues and quality. I subsequently purchased a mid-level Nixon DSLR and have been happy with the resulets. A higher-end Canon printer produced very fine results. Subtle tones were reproduced well in color work. I look forward to other books by this author. I could no longer afford the film(prints and slides) and processing. Now I can shoot, edit, store and print only the best. I paid for my digital camera in a few months savings on film. Just wish I could afford a Leica digital body since I have the glass! This book will NOT talk down to you! Well worth the price of admission if you are thinking of going digital.
